George Hoyt

Coach Hoyt has spent the last 20+ years coaching in the Edmonton area. He is one of the most successful high school basketball coaches in the history of Alberta and has built a powerhouse program at Harry Ainlay High School. Coach Hoyt prides himself on individual skill development, and has spent countless hours training some of the top players in Edmonton.

During his 12-year tenure at Harry Ainlay, Coach Hoyt has led the Titans to 8 City Championships, 9 4A ASAA Semifinals, and four 4A ASAA Championships. He has also helped more than a dozen Harry Ainlay student-athletes play basketball at the post-secondary level, a testament to his skill development abilities. 

A true gym rat, Coach Hoyt loves working on the fundamentals with players of all levels. George has a passion for the game and appreciates the relationships he has built through basketball. His intensity, loyalty, and commitment have allowed him to thrive at every level at which he has coached. 

Most recently, Coach Hoyt led the Harry Ainlay Sr. Boys to a 4A Provincial Championship in 2017-18, and two players from that team will be joining the U of A Golden Bears in the fall of 2018. 

Baker Elite Connection 

Coach Hoyt was Jordan Baker's high school coach at Harry Ainlay where they won two City Championships and finished top 4 in the province on two occasions. Hoyt also served as Coach Baker's individual trainer during the off-seasons between Baker's professional stints in Germany, Portugal and Japan. Coach Hoyt currently works with the 3X3 Team Saskatoon as a skills trainer and advisor.
