Mathew Hale has been coaching in the Edmonton area for the past 10 years. He has spent time at both the junior high and high school levels, as well as in the club basketball system. In 2010, Mat helped lead the Zone 5 boys to a third place finish in the Alberta Summer Games in Peace River. Mat is also a founding member of Frost Basketball, a non-profit youth basketball organization focused on developing the basketball community in Strathcona County. In addition to providing high-level basketball training in a competitive club environment, Frost Basketball takes pride in building the character and life skills of all their athletes.
Since founding Frost, Coach Hale has received his NCCP coaching certification through the Alberta Basketball Association. During the 2018-19 season, Mat worked as an assistant coach and video coordinator for the MacEwan University men’s varsity basketball team. This summer, in addition to coaching with Baker Elite, he will be working for Alberta Basketball Association as an assistant coach for the U16 Boys - Team Alberta.
In exciting news, Coach Hale will be joining the Concordia Thunder men’s basketball team as an assistant coach for the 2019-20 season.
BAKER ELITE CONNECTION
Coach Hale got connected with Baker Elite after taking a class from Coach Baker at the University of Alberta. Mathew’s experience coaching at the youth level combined with the success of Frost Basketball made for an easy transition into coaching at Baker Elite. Coach Hale has been with Baker Elite since 2018, and his rapid ascension in the Edmonton coaching scene is a testament to his passion, hard work, and dedication.
